VCR's: the poor man's Tivo.
Apr. 21st, 2003 04:02 pmActually, my current digital cable has a feature called "VCR Commander", where it activates your VCR with remote control signals and tapes whatever shows you select from the guide.
Now, I can only record six hours at a time instead of thirty-plus, and I can't pause live television or skip commercials instantly, and the VCR in my living room makes this high-pitched whine when it's on, and I couldn't successfully set it up last night... but it's kinda, sorta like having a digital PVR, in an analog way.
Though, actually, it's more like those dorky little VCR-Plus codes you used to see all the time in the TV Guide.
It's kinda cool, but like I said, I couldn't get it to work last night.
( Excuse me while I do the math on my television entertainment options... )
