I was in Fry's Electromics again today, and somehow there seemed to be more random encounters with big black barriers obscuring the covers of various media, denoting that they are adult media and not for purchase by those under 18.

Funny thing is, they seem to deviate from the standard roped-off-area paradigm. Quite the contrary; all of this restricted material is in oddly high-traffic, high-visibility areas. The adult DVDs are in the middle of the aisles, and the adult magazines are on the corner facing the Fry's cafe.

BTW, don't eat there. Easy advice to follow, considering they never serve you.

Suppose our planet had no concept of martyrdom.

No suicide bombings.

Christianity would have to find a better argument than "Jesus died on the cross, and it hurt really really bad!"

And people with low self-esteem wouldn't have their precious "the more you suffer, the more it shows you're really good, right?" meme, to convince them that their self-loathing gives them character, and their self-destruction gives them virtue.

Does martyrdom really benefit anyone on any level?

This is a young idea and I haven't put it to much scrutiny.
