Mar. 19th, 2002 09:56 amI'm just about to sit down and enjoy some nice French toast my mother made, when the kitchen telephone's evil beabling shriek tears through the room. I swear, there are fire alarms more soothing than that telephone.
It's my doctor's office, and they want me to get a chest X-ray to verify my TB test results. And no, it can't wait until I get back.
It's less than 30 hours to my flight, and I have no indication that there's anything I can do with the results once I'm overseas. And I am so not cancelling my trip, not after all the work I've done and all the work my family and friends have done to help me. I'm totally willing to brush off the X-ray and tell fate to go fuck itself and go ahead and just try and give me TB in the middle of my trip. (Actually, the most recent conversation with the nurse seemed to imply that I don't have TB, but I might have been exposed to people who have had it, whatever that means..)
I should never have gone in for those shots Thursday. The hep-B shot will be useless for my trip, and the TB test is just causing my family to turn our lives even more upside-down than it already is. They totally didn't tell me I'd be going through all this.
While I was at FBC yesterday, I had the nurse look at the skin test and she said it looked like a negative to her. And I've heard so many people talk about this test giving false positives.
