Dec. 30th, 2001 08:05 pmWent walking the dog tonight, and when I got back, my dad was out on the porch talking to my neighbor, and he suggested that I take the dog up to my old neighbors' house, where a Gurl my age was visiting her family.
I grew up going to the same grade school as her, and though we lived in the same neighborhood from the 5th grade onward, we went to different junior high and high schools and didn't see each other much. I ran into her once while I was going to DeVry, but behaved in a very uncool Stu manner as I tried to meet her again, calling too often and extending repeated invitations... this made the idea sound like it would result only in awkwardness. Especially since I'd just been around that block.
But, considering I have no basis for a sexual agenda, I figured I had nothing to lose
So I walked, and I knocked on the door, and her mother answered. I'd apparently missed her by ten minutes. So I figured there was no harm telling her I was just there ten minutes ago. And we spent ten or fifteen minutes updating each other on myself and her and her brother. Gurl is in grad school, having switched from the sciences to the arts, and her brother is in the Marines. I mentioned I was making good scrub down at TM and was planning to go backpacking in Europe for a while.
She invitede me to stop by tomorrow around noon or so, and Gurl might be back, and awake. I might drop by, but I have other things to do, like buy pepper spray.
I also dropped by on some other neighbors; a childhood friend of mine is about to be left with his parents' house, as they're moving to Oklahoma. They insist I attend next year's Saint Patrick's Day party.
