Secondary news.
Oct. 28th, 2001 01:12 pmI used to turn on CNN and see if anything interesting was happening in the world. Now it's just terrorists this, Afghanistan that, middle east this, fundamentalists that, ground zero this, Bush says this and that.... "Tonight on Larry King: the anthrax threat now compounded by the falling sky threat! Joining us on the panel are Henny Penny and Chicken Little."
I think there should be a Secondary News Network. Its job would be to report all the news except the top story. Granted, it might be difficult because all the news is, in fact, interrelated. But there continue to be scientific breakthroughs, product releases, entertainment, worldwide news that has nothing to do with the middle east, etc. The closest thing we have to that is ESPN.
I'm not saying it would make us feel any better; news as American broadcasters repot it is generally depressing. But at least it wouldn't be repetitive.
