At first I thought I'd learn Macromedia Flash and become a famous web animator. Then I found out that when I'm done with the 30-day trial, the retail version costs $300.

I'll try it anyway, but I'm a little peeved. I used to see little commercial spots with Flash animation tips on them on ZDTV, as if it was something everybody had. But at that price, I'd say it's not for people like me who just want to goof around, and may OR may not get massive productive use of it.

Then again, people like me who just want to goof around only need 30 days to do that, so I suppose it works out. Unless it turns out I become a famous web animator.

I just gave $80 to PBS.

This makes up for all the porn, I guess.

I went to the Asian grocery store this morning with my father, and picked up a bag of chocolate corn puffs that I went right through in one sitting. I also bought some udon noodles of various varieties, some mochi ice cream, and some coconut cream.

Ah, yes, coconut cream. I haven't tried cooking anything with it yet, but soon I will make my most excellent curry yet!

One of the commentators on Iron Chef said "Crouching Salmon, Hidden Pepper".

I couldn't resist picturing that literally.

Update: Bobby Flay's table-standing antics kind of disappointed me, and he had a year to come up with a better idea. But, hey, Kandagawa's a tough act to follow, and it was the best way to get a rise out of the audience I suppose.

That bit with Kaga and the hamburger at the beginning, though... was that really necessary? He also took a jab at our Presidential election snafu at the end.

Morimoto's pledge not to use soy sauce at all surprised me, and I think it may have been a little too daring. But I knew that at some point, an Iron Chef would elect to declare a common ingredient off-limits, but I was hoping it would be one of those luxury ingredients like foie gras or something.

Know what I'd like to have seen? An excellent curry!
