(no subject)

I have out of town guests tomorrow I'd like to invite over and cook for.

I'm out of dishwasher soap and it's too late to do it by hand, so I just poured some Joy into the dishwasher soap thingy and started it up.

I'm glad I stayed up late enough to mop up the result.

No, wait, I spoke too soon... I went out and looked and it's just as floody and foamy as ever.

Update: after a half hour of mopping, sacrificing many old towels, experimenting with paper towels, I have reduced the flooding to where it probably won't rot away the walls. The dishwasher is on the "dry" cycle, and I'll put it on rinse-only cycle tomorrow morning, maybe. That floor lamp I was going to throw away, is now aimed at my kitchen on high power, and my central AC's fan is locked in the "on" position in an effort to ventilate with the outside air without opening my apartment to the possibility, however remote, of intruders.

I started reading this post, was about to say "NO DON'T DO THAT!!" and saw that you had learned the hard way.

(Our current disaster is our idiot cat Nestor's penchant for peeing at the bottom of the stairs. Maybe I should start feeding him there.)

In all honesty, I probably would have done the same.

I'm laughing WITH you, not at you. A little part of me finds it hilarious.

I think just about everyone makes that mistake once.

Usually just once, though. ;-)

I feel for you. I did that by accident once, too.

I was telling my wife about your entry and she stunned me by confessing that she, too, had done this once. She says it works fine if you use a very small amount, though.
