ΕΣΤΙΑΤΌΡΙΟ and ΞΕΝΟΔΟΧΕΊΟ
Greek is the first language I've learned where the words for "restaurant" and "hotel" are not "restaurant" and "hotel".

Does it qualify for astoundingness even though it utilizes a completely different alphabet?
In which case, sign language would be my first.
AND, I don't mean to be nit-picky, but "restaurante" is not exactly "restaurant"

And then there's Japanese ...
(When romanized, they're
restoran
and
hoteru
.)
... crap.
But a Japanese-style inn is called a
ryokan
and a coffee house is called a
kossaten
so you *can* find native words for more specialized types of restaurant and hotel that are not "restaurant" or "hotel".

But a Japanese-style inn is called a ryokan and a coffee house is called a kossaten so you *can* find native words for more specialized types of restaurant and hotel that are not "restaurant" or "hotel".
