Say what you will about [livejournal.com profile] ernunnos, he has a tendency to link to powerful stories.

I'm only halfway through reading this story about schools and I'm already seriously considering getting a vassectomy.

What the hell does a child have to do to get any disciplinary action in that school? Kill somebody? Set a building on fire?

That woman Ms. Savory has no backbone. If she is not willing to support the teachers under her when it comes to discipline and grades, or believes that doing so is futile, she has no business in that position. She probably has given up and only stays in this line of work because she isn't qualified for anything else.

I think video cameras should be placed in every room and hallway. At least then parents and school administrators could see how children are really behaving, rather than relying on conflicting statements between students and teachers. Teachers would also have better protection from false allegations. Privacy advocates would oppose this idea I am sure.

Some schools have done that.

But most public schools simply do not have the budget for that type of equipment.
