Ehh, in order to sell out, you have to have some sort of artistic integrity. The guy made a goofy internet video and in turn probably made a good chunk of change doing an ad for Dr. Pepper. Would you have passed up such an opportunity?
"Talent" is an interesting word choice to use with Mr. Zonday, whose skills (songwriting, singing, piano, acting, and video production) are all amateurish at best.
Which makes his choice to "sell out" a no-brainer.
At least his skills are good by amateur standards, such that if this Chocolate Rain thing dries up, he won't be much worse off than he was before -- using Youtube to goof around to a slightly-bigger-than-before fan base, but going to school to prepare for the inevitable day job.
