Coming this Fall: the "Me So Solly" quiz show!

There's this show called "Banzai" on Fox.

Now, I didn't expect the show to be THIS racist.

Nor did I expect them to skimp on the writing. They seem to be filling the screen with random squarish characters halfway between katakana and kanji. Don't they realize there's a huge contingent of anime geeks and other Japanophiles who know how fake that is? Or do they just want to flush out the people who admit that we can tell it ain't real Japanese?

If they took out that, and the random shots of the Stock Martial Arts Screaming Guy, it might be an amusing show for about ten minutes.

There seems to be another quasi-Japanese game show on TNN. I forget what it was called, or what I saw, but all I could remember was that I could totally tell that it either wasn't really from Japan or the dubbers were making stuff up.

I could tell that just by watching the commercials.

Yet more proof why I don't watch television anymore.

If I had cable the only channels I think I'd want are foodtv, TLC, Discovery, History, Sci-Fi,and cartoon network. Ya'll can have the other 185 or so.

There's this show called "Banzai" on Fox.

I saw the first 5 or 10 minutes of it last week before turned the disaster off. I thought it would be the new show most likely to dissappear without a trace after 1 showing of one episode. I was surprised to see it airing again this week.

Insert "Mr Yuck" face here.

Quit trollerating me!

But yeah, the commercials look like some Fox executive found out that Japan has wacky TV shows so lets make one of our own to show how stoopid those Japanese are.

This is why I don't connect with my co-workers. They love the show, and also ramble on about Ashton Kucher and Demi Moore.

"Banzai" is, if I recall correctly, actually British. You could get away with Krusty the Klown-level stereotyping of east Asians for a little bit longer there, and I think the toleration for it is still slightly higher.

I thought the whole point of the show -was- to be dumb. A parody of action/game shows. No, I don't know why anyone would think would be a good show either.

ME NO RIKEE

The British creators of the show may not have known any better, but the Fox executives who decided to bring the show to America should have.

(Then again, hey, Fox executives.)

I was disappointed that Banzai was an entire show of the little games they play. I used to love it when it was on USA. They did it a little differently. It was Banzai Movie Friday. They showed a movied, but before and after each commercial break, they would play one of the games. You could play along on their website, like this one allows you to do, but you actually played for prizes. It was good because it was spread out, rather than just having a half hour/hour of them talking. Plus, it seems as though they made it a lot dumber. :(
