I just saw the Stargate movie, on the sci-fi channel.
Interesting that the Abydos actors are the only ones who seemed to come back for the series.
Also, the last guy to stop clucking is the same actor who played the ugly rogue telepath in a Babylon 5 episode. Seeing Ira from "Spin City" in this movie was a lot like seeing Newman from "Seinfeld" in Basic Instinct: you get to see these actors just before they're typecast as buffoons.
It's interesting that they kept all the characters the same, including the Polish guy, but a bunch of things seem slightly askew. We never see the DHD, and I don't remember hearing the one-way rule given outright. Ra's eyes glow without making a snare drum sound. Also, all the symbols on the Stargate, and not just the point of origin, are different.
Also, Ra's horse guards' heads were super-elaborate. They make Apophis' serpent guards look like Pez dispensers by comparison.
And even though this has nothing to do with the movie, I just LOVE the way the planet looks in the episode "Cold Lazarus". How'd they get that much sand to be THAT yellow? The contrast with the blue crystals made it even more striking. That episode should be on Sci-Fi Channel this Wednesday, maybe Thursday.
