What is the deal with sausage on pizza?

I can eat just about anything, but when there's pizza and there's sausage on it, it seems specifically designed to make my stomach feel like someone's dipped a stick blender in it.

And after having watched Happy Tree Friends, that's a scenario that I'm having too little trouble imagining right now.
